This 21 mile out-and-back route will start at Fort Clark State Historic Site, one of the state's most important archaeological sites with a well-preserved record of the fur trade and of the personal tragedy of the Mandan village that once thrived there. The route will head to Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site, a major Native American trade center for hundreds of years prior to becoming an important market place for fur traders after 1750. Cyclists will then return to Fort Clark.
